Brazilian outbacks, 1932. The sun annihilates everything. In the midst of an arid landscape made of carcasses and dryness, Teresa – a girl haunted by several ghosts of those who perished in the face of the drought – follows her path. Father Antônio is by her side. The two flee from one of the confinement camps that prevent those affected by the drought from reaching the capital by the coast. They follow the Apoema, a dry river, looking for a village in the middle of the desert where they will find Father Lucas, the only one who can confront the demons and ghosts that harass them. However, for them, each step is an encounter with death and the horror of a place dominated by a foreboding and outwardly endless drought.
